This does not seem to be going away. Wake Forest is a reputable school, with very high standards, and an influential and wealthy alumni. You have to think it will either stop, or the coach will be replaced.

This coach will not be with the team at the start of the 2016 season. He will be there in Aug, but as for Nov or Dec, only wins (and no new allegations) will keep him there in 2017

Doesn't sound good when old players at north Texas and at wake are relating the same stories.

Some of these claims blow my mind. Honestly how do you make up a story about a girl having to write a 4 page apology for eating 2 breadsticks instead of 1 at Olive Garden!!!! Hahaha! That's nuts!!! The more and more people that step forward and how similar their stories are is definitely concerning but all that remain anonymous in my opinion hold no weight. If you are going to go after someone's livelihood you better have the balls to use your name and not be anonymous. If the allegations are true then he has 0 business being in this profession and affecting so many young people in such a negative way. If these allegations are falsified in any way or exaggerated my best wishes go out to him and his family since these children could be ruining their future and lives. Either way it's a lose lose in my book and so unfortunate

A strategy of anger, fear and manipulation
“Coaches, from time to time, get angry,” Athletic Director Ron Wellman told parents and players amidst a Title IX investigation into Murczek’s behavior in December 2014. “The anger isn’t so much emotion as it is a plan to get the team to a different level of success.”
But many players view this coach’s behavior differently.
Former and current members of the team recounted instances during practice where Murczek would scream obscenities and derogatory comments at specific players for making even the smallest errors.
Among other examples, he would often call girls “!!!!###$$$!!!ing retarded,” according to former player Maggie Sinkler in an interview with HBO’s Bryant Gumbel in March 2015.
I guess this comes down to, are we ready to accept male Coaches treating young female Athlete's, the same way as a lot of male Coaches treat young male Athletes. A football or a basketball coach feeding it to an 18 year old kid is celebrated.

I have mixed feelings about all of this. If the school President and AD are not up in arms about this why should Volleytalk jump in and lead the battle against the treachery and vile behavior that purportedly is being cast upon these college athletes.

That is pretty well what is making me think. It's not like Wake Forest is a lightweight, surely they understand the result of being real wrong here.

Exactly. Volleyball isn't important enough to anybody to keep a coach that they truly suspect is abusive towards his players. The fact that they've done what is outwardly unpopular and causing bad press to support this guy tells me they truly believe he hasn't been abusive in their opinion. They seem to be choosing the path with MORE resistance, and you would only do that for a couple of reasons. Wining clearly hasn't been one of them, which makes me tend to believe they're trying to act honorably and not fire somebody that they don't think deserves to despite the complaints.

Either way it's a lose lose in my book and so unfortunate How in the world does that breadstick story make it into an argument about abuse? In what way did that emotionally or physically scar that kid? That reeks of a punishment for having a specific set of rules and a kid trying to sneak something and breaking the rules. THAT is a culture issue and a coach is right in addressing it. As people have pointed out, nowhere in these complaints is there an example of players going up to the coach and saying "hey coach, I'm always hungry. Is there any way we can have a larger pre-match meal?" Just that coach made X rule, I didn't think it was fair so I broke said rule and the punishment was cruel and unusual. None of us know the details of what happened. Based on what has been released, I could connect the dots to find a narrative of abuse but I could also connect the dots to find a tough coach who simply butted head with athletes who committed to play for a different style and couldn't handle his tough but fair ways.

I dont know I tend to lean the other way. Multiple infractions within multiple programs. The article says he claims he doesnt use profanities. Seems odd that every player on the current team and some on the previous team all say different. One of them is lying. I am unaware of a coach that never uses profanities. I dont think we are talking about a tough but fair coach but rather a tough and cruel and demeaning one. Watch the HBO video and you get a pretty good sense of somebody.
