What does everyone think about the chance of actual main draw events?

A fair amount of optimism so far on this poll. Could we see these events happening next Fall when a substantial percentage of people have been vaccinated? Thereby allowing for California Events on real beaches.

Thereby allowing for California Events on real beaches. We will be fully open by summer, some restrictions but not enough to eliminate any attempts at a decent schedule.

Not directly related I guess, but noteworthy. AVPNext events, in recent years have had to offer a minimum $5,000 purse ($2,500 each gender), in order to get the higher point value than the regular AVPAmerica events. However this year, in order to be classified as an AVPNext event, you will need to offer a minimum $10,000 purse

I would really like a mix of five or so regular events wherever they can be held, plus a champions cup style event too. Mostly, I like to see that Tokyo thing happen...

I wonder what the benefit of going AVPNext is for a regional tournament who can put up a 10K purse?

Not sure I understand the timing on this unless I’m missing something (which happens very regularly).

We've been to several AVP Next Events over the past year, and I have to say that they were all very well run and pretty fun to be at!

We've been to several AVP Next Events over the past year, and I have to say that they were all very well run and pretty fun to be at! The people that run amateur and semipro events, especially those who have been doing it since before there was juniors money around, are the real backbone of the sport. I remember so many instances of tournament directors or staff - especially when we were playing away from home - really going out of their way to make sure things were going well, we had what we needed etc.

What's the difference between AVP First and AVP America for kids volleyball? Is one of them affiliated with AAU or USAV? Sorry for asking a stupid question but I hope someone knows the answer.

AVPAmerica is the org that the various avp tournament promotors belong to. AVPFirst is the brand name of the junior tournaments that these promoters put on. AVPNext would be the amateur adult tournaments.

Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex is advertising an AVPNext Gold event ($20K prize money) For June 2-4th. (my FB volleyball group is a great source for this info Florida beach volleyball players). Gold events have to be 20K regular Next events have to be 10k. Anyone hear of others?
