A quick look at volleydork who has done a list of the best attacking OH: www.volleydork.com/post/best-outside-hitters-in-ncaa-womens-volleyball-2022And the best passers www.volleydork.com/post/top-passers-in-ncaa-womens-volleyball-2022Nuneviller is 9 as ah attacking OH and 6 as a passer with liberos included in that category. Of course she was a senior last year. The only returning player is Rubin at 18 as a hitter and 23 as a passer. FWIW, I thought Rubin was already a better hitter as a freshman than McClure ever was. Rubin hit 230 (250 in conference) with 3.1k KPS (4.1 in conference) versus McClure who hit 241 with 1.92 KPS in 2019. I also agree that while both hitting and passing can be improved, getting to a truly elite level is mostly about physical gifts that are difficult to really develop as you get older. Rubin also significantly improved as the season went on. Imo she was asked to do too much especially with Baird’s play dropping and her not being an option in the backrow. Obviously Mcclure had Plummer to take basically every OOS ball

More than 4 k/s and 400 serve receives: Taylor Landfair (Minnesota) Eva Hudson (Purdue) Raina Terry (Illinois) Brooke Neneviller (Oregon) Claire Hoffman (Washington) Madelyn Robinson (Utah) Gracie Johnson (Duke) Julia Bergmann (Georgia Tech) McKenna Melville (UCF) Caroline Meuth (Texas A&M) Kacie Evans (Georgia) Expand to 3.5 k/s: Lauren Harrison (Baylor) Audrey Nails (TCU) Kenna Sauer (Texas Tech) Abbie Jackson (Houston) Sarah Franklin (Wisconsin) Mady Saris (Indiana) Jess Mruzik (Michigan) Pia Timmer (Washington State) Laura Jansen (Washington State) Katie Lukes (San Diego) Claire Chaussee (Louisville) Polina Shemanova (Syracuse) Mabrey Shaffmaster (North Carolina) Angela Grieve (Miami-Fl) Grace Turner (Virgnia) Sanaa Dotson (LSU) Akasha Anderson (Auburn) Taylor Head (Arkansas) Jillian Gillen (Arkansas) Kaylee Cox (Missouri) Wouldn't get lots of serve-receive chances mean you might NOT be a good passer? That's why they're serving you.

Looking forward to how Chicoine will fit in this category. She could be very similar to Nuneveiller, maybe not as solid of a passer but a little more terminal?
Landfair is at the top of the list for me, terminal with good SR but I really wish her defense was better. I think we’ll see her and Wucherer doing a lot of passing this season so time will tell.
Same with Wenaas, definitely one of the better passers. Curious how she’ll do back on the left pin at Texas, I could see her having a strong season in her home state
What about 6ro Opps? Who are the standouts?

That's why they're serving you. It seems fair to me to call it an incomplete metric. I don’t think of it as a sign of how good they are at serve receive, as much as at least there’s enough data to determine something about their abilities in the area. Also, if they’re being hidden enough they don’t get any chances, to me that’s worse than getting chances but putting up poor numbers. But that’s just me.

Who are the standouts? I’m curious to see how the playing time shakes out. Wenaas is the likely starter, but with Skinner ahead of her and Kahahawai behind her, it’s not guaranteed. She’ll have to earn it, for sure.

Who are the standouts? Looking more and more likely that Beason will be a passing opposite this year for Nebraska. She's been a 6 rotation player at Florida for two years but wasn't part of serve receive for the most part. Throughout the spring and Brazil matches though, she's consistently been in the formation, freeing up the L1 to not have to pass during their front row rotations. I'm interested to see how that looks once the season comes around. She's done well so far.

When Franklin's name showed up, it was readily apparent there might be a flaw in the methodology. :-)

Emily Londot for Ohio State, but she’s inconsistent and she won’t have the surrounding cast she did last year, including her setter.

6ro opposites are so hated in college and for what, like do none of the coaches watch pro/international?!
what’s the list for next season? Kipp, Beason, Frohling, Sofia Maldonado Diaz? Londot will be at outside, no?

Londot will be at outside, no? Oh, I didn’t know that. They show her as opposite on the roster, but that doesn’t mean anything.

McClure also had WAY more talent around her. The amount of weapons around McClure was borderline insane. I would say Rubin is more offensively minded than McClure but I don’t think we can use that state to determine it
