McClure also had WAY more talent around her. The amount of weapons around McClure was borderline insane. I would say Rubin is more offensively minded than McClure but I don’t think we can use that state to determine it On paper I don't think you are correct. The talent around Rubin right now is insane on paper. Here is their recruiting class rankings: 2 Baird 3 Kipp 4 Miner 5 Francis 10 Vicini 26 Smith 36 Oglvie On paper vs what’s proven are different. McClure had one of the greatest players to play the game as an OH with her, way better middles and a pretty damn good Opp. Also a better libero. Only thing I would say was equal was setter. And edge at Opp to kipp, but Fitzmorris was still insane

This is becoming a Stanford discussion thread haha.
Besides Stanford pins, I'd also add in PAC pins of Maldonado Diaz, G. Gonzales, and maybe Tabron and Timmer. I think some of the incoming freshmen look like they may be solid with this too. We will see this season.

Looking forward to how Chicoine will fit in this category. She could be very similar to Nuneveiller, maybe not as solid of a passer but a little more terminal? Landfair is at the top of the list for me, terminal with good SR but I really wish her defense was better. I think we’ll see her and Wucherer doing a lot of passing this season so time will tell. Same with Wenaas, definitely one of the better passers. Curious how she’ll do back on the left pin at Texas, I could see her having a strong season in her home state What about 6ro Opps? Who are the standouts? Is Chicoine in the running for an OH spot or just the L?

She’s a fine passer and defender but her offense at time really struggles, her arm swing just isn’t it for me

I must have watched the good games haha. very, very bad. I don’t get it either. she was a middle before coming to arizona, yet managed to pass a 2.0 her freshman year (granted, next to Hiapo and Whipple). the next season, without Paige, she passed a 1.84. and then now this past season, she passed a 1.65😭😭

When she is on she’s tough to stop, but she has a lot of head scratcher games where she can’t buy a kill.

Wouldn't get lots of serve-receive chances mean you might NOT be a good passer? That's why they're serving you. I didn't compile the list to be the best 6 rotation OH - I compiled a list of the best hitters that play 6 rotations. The basic stats that the general public has (like me) - doesn't tell you anything about whether someone is good at serve receive or backrow defense. Probably the most important aspect of the game - and the available stats for this are either non-existent or stink. As for - a lot of chances means you are a bad passer. That isn't the case at all. A bad passer will get virtually no serve receive chances - as the coaches will not put them in position to receive serve. Usually a team will have just 3 per serve - and when I look at the numbers - it would appear that the chances end up being roughly the same for all 3 spots. There is some variability, but usually not something that is huge. Also - one can get more opportunities because they are assigned more than 1/3 of the receive court. Take Zoe Fleck - arguably the best serve receiver in the country last year (certainly among them). She received 28.3% of the serves for Texas last year. Expectation - no team in their right mind would have tried to serve the ball to her - but she still got to over 28% of the serves. Eggleston and Skinner combined for just 30.1% of the serves. Para got a couple dozen and the rest went to DS's. Raina Terry getting 44% of the serves probably does say something. Terry only getting 44% of the serves either says that she was somehow squeezed in a 2 passer formation, or she was not that bad of a passer compared to her libero. Admittedly Terry shouldn't have been part of a two passer formation, but she's not - as one poster put it - "one of the worst passers in recent memory." To be fair, U of I as a whole was really bad passing last year and still was a .500 team in the B1G last year, so if Terry can hold her own in a 3 passer formation next year that team will surprise. Also, 6ro OH's have more than one role in the back row - in addition to being a good enough passer to play 6, they need to defend middle back well and also be a threat on the pipe. My personal opinion with only really seeing the B1G is that Hudson is a very good back row defender and looked better passing than her stats said, her weakness in terms of elite 6ro OH's is actually terminating (she struggled against elite teams). Conversely, Landfair may be an okay passer but she defends middle back like she's 6'5". But terminating from the back row is certainly something she does well.

I think there is some confusion here because you can talk about USA college numbers and they can have good stats but how many of them can translate on the international level The OP was talking about high school players, so I think maybe questioning whether they are ready for the Olympics right now is a bit premature. Besides, the specific question was about which players are ready to be strong 6-ro OHs in college.

Well anyone can play 6 rotations in the US college volleyball game just not internationally lol Are we sure we want to go with ‘anyone’ here?

She may be on the floor to help solidify defense for Oregon, but not be expected to carry for points.
